What is "Discussions"?
" is our message board/forum where members share thoughts, ideas, or help by posting messages.
Reading and participating in discussions can be a good way to obtain a basic knowledge of a topic, and it also provides a historical perspective on trends and opinions.
What is the proper discussion etiquette?
Below is our Code of Conduct: a Guide, and Etiquette on general behavior for participation in our discussion board. Please respect these rules and each other.
English is the primary language of this discussion board.
- SEARCH FIRST
Search for other posts to see if your topic is already covered. Duplicate posts will be removed.
- WHAT'S IN YOUR MIND?
Use a meaningful title for your thread.
- STAY ON TOPIC
Posts should be related to Japanese Martial Arts. Before you post anything, ask yourself: "Will this be useful for others?" Off-topic discussions are eligible for removal.
If you post a random photo or video without providing any relevant context to spark a constructive discussion, it will be removed.
- BE CIVIL
No personal attacks. Do not feel compelled to defend your honor in public. Posts containing personal attacks will be removed.
Be patient with new participants. They ask the wrong questions, including ones that seem obvious (or whose answers seem easy to find). Veteran members are encouraged to send them a link to earlier posts so they can get the information they need.
Avoid posting topics with the purpose of dividing people into separate groups (i.e. "kata vs. Kumite", "sport vs. tradition," "style vs. style" etc.). All martial arts practitioners are on the same path of self-development and personal fulfillment.
- NO TROLLING
A troll is someone who intentionally and persistently posts inflammatory messages about sensitive topics to bait users into responding or provoke a confrontation. This will not be tolerated.
- SPAMMERS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED
We take spam seriously and will ban users who post SPAM (unsolicited advertisement for goods, services, and other websites, or posts with little, or completely unrelated content.) Do not use the discussions board to promote your product, service or business.
- RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE'S PRIVACY
Please don't post phone numbers, addresses, social security numbers or any additional private information. We would discourage posting this kind of information about yourself as well.
If you make an occasional mistake, offer a brief apology and move on. Don't turn it into something more significant than it needs to be.
Participate at your own risk when online. Take responsibility for your comments under your name. MartialConnection.com takes no responsibility for the content or opinions of others posted here.
